Life Lessons learned from Horses!

By Celie Weston

Think out of the bowl!

It's always easy to fall into the dulling routine of our daily lives e.g. responsibilities, schedules that need to be met, bills that need to be paid, family, kids, jobs, friends, society etc - all things that need to be taken care of.

As Shakespeare once said:

"All the world's a stage, And all the men and women merely players…/.../"

But where are you in this game of life - your true identity, power and joy - what do you really want - what are your dreams and aspirations?

Did you know, that a goldfish grows to fit the size of the environment he lives in?

In other words, if you have a small bowl, you will have a small goldfish.

If you have a big bowl, you will have a BIG goldfish!

What if that goldfish represents your dream?…

Then the question you should be asking yourself is:

Which bowl did you buy into?

Something utterly amazing and beautiful about working with horses and other animals, is to observe their emotional honesty. If a horse is afraid, he's afraid. If he's happy, he's happy. Horses don't have roles to play, they don't wear different masks for different occasions around different people. They are not trying to please anyone or anything taking the risk of becoming detached from what they are. Horses are not dependent on outside entities to create what they want, nor do they become self-conscious or afraid to show the world who they are. They simply exist.

And still they manage to reach their highest goal, which is survival and procreation. This is not an easy goal to meet. Humans have a hard time reaching this goal, because we have a hard time accepting and loving who we are - we have a hard time existing. Survival is not scraping by, living from pay check to pay check, hoping that nothing bad happens or that change doesn't come to quickly, if at all. Life is change, that's the only thing that I can guarantee you will happen. Real survival is "living your life to the fullest"!

Horses are true to their identity. Taking the "being" of their goals, is natural to them.

If you have a dream, don't let it linger somewhere in the future as an almost unattainable goal far far away. Your future is happening now. Imagine what your dream is, be specific - what does your life look like when you've achieved that goal?

Be a fly on the wall of your life.

What type of person are you when you get there - what do you look like physically, how do you behave? Are there things that you are doing differently at that point, compared to what you are doing now?

Grab a hold of that "state of being" and start living it. If that means dressing nicer, then do it. If it means smiling more, then do it. Take that "beingness", make it present - and your dream will begin to come true one step at a time.

When you do it that way - you don't have to have money or anything else to be happy or to reach your dream. You don't have to live in the future, wishing that someday it might happen - why? Because you have arrived. Live now as though your dream has already happened.

You don't need to know exactly where you're going on your journey, as long as you can visualize the end result - the universe will manifest everything you need. Just keep getting up in the morning and show up! That's all you have to do. Keep showing up and just try to do things that you think will bring you closer to your goal.

To your astonishment you will find that you already have everything and everybody in your close vicinity that you need, in order to make your dream come true.

You will never be happier than what you are right here, right now. Don't believe in the illusions that currently surround you, they are only perceptions, not ultimate reality.

Keep walking, never look back. Be true to who you are - Unleash your full potential and Dare to Dream!
